Hello Brownsville...again!

I'm back in Brownsville, but now I'm 28 so it's going to be really different this time. I've been so excited about my birthday, and was so thankful when so many of my amazing friends sent me happy wishes. I love facebook...with hundreds of friends and family stopping in to say hello, it just reminded me how much I love my life. It's amazing how the little things can really mean so much.

I was really reminded of that today. A dear friend of mine's mother just lost her battle with cancer a few days ago. I've met and spent time with her mom maybe 10 times. She always made me laugh, and had such a wonderful sense of humor. In October, she had to have surgery. Being Breast Cancer Awareness month, there was an abundance of pink ribbon paraphernalia in the stores, so I stopped to pick up some cookies that came with a little pink bracelet, ala LiveStrong style. I haven't thought much of it...she thanked me for the cookies the next time I saw her and that was that. Well today my friend called me and said that when she went to dress her mother from the funeral today, she realized that her mom has worn that bracelet since that day and would be buried in it tomorrow.

This story isn't an attempt to self horn toot, it just is a reminder to me that sometimes we do something so small...something we think no one will notice or care much about. But that small thing can stay with a person for a lifetime. I think about how many people I encounter on a give day and how the smallest thing someone says can affect my day or week or life. Watching myriad stories on the news about bullying, verbal abuse based on race and sexual orientation, and parental abuse just pull at my heart. Love each other. Do what you can. Be careful what you say. Share joy. Glow.

Thank you all for the love you've given me. I hope that I am woman enough to give it back to you.

Hey, I'm back on tour. I think it's really cool
can't tell you for whom, that's against the rules.

Missing life in Utah, really just because of him
But now I'm in places that I've never been

Looking forward to being me and reaching for the moon
But i'm just not sure i'll be over it real soon.

ENOUGH of being sappy, there's so much more to tell
I'm digging what i'm doing, helping sick people get well.

and at the risk of talking about anything that's Dan-ish,
I've also really enjoying working on so much Spanish.

I call this place Lil' Mexico, we're five miles to the border
And with all the tamales and burritos, i'm like a stomach hoarder.

After B-ville, it's a small town then back for my birthday,
and hopefully by then, I'll have much more to say.

I'm out.

Cats is closed, Crazy for You is open, seven weeks left in Utah! Things are really heating up...well I guess they're actually cooling down, which is a very nice change from the 115 degree heat we started with!

The people here in Southern Utah are all really nice and I've enjoyed hiking and biking and getting to know new folks and I'm really excited to have my days off and just relax as this contract comes to an end. Now it's time to focus on important things like what I'm going to do next, and where I'm going to live, and who is going to be on my fantasy team.

I'm having the best week ever, and I hope you are too!

Hello and Welcome!

Blogging is really new to me, so bear with my first attempts!

I'm in St. George, Utah, about half way through my first contract at Tuacahn Amphitheatre and it's been great! Currently, I'm playing Kala in Tarzan, understudying Grizabella in Cats, and just started rehearsals for Crazy for You! Triple duty is almost as fun as tech....almost :)

Tarzan has been going really well, I'm so very proud of the work that's being done here! This week Disney Theatrical is coming to see the shows so there's lots of buzz about that. This is the first time Tarzan has been done in the US since it closed on Broadway three years ago so there's some pressure to make sure we're doing it right!

Well, triple duty has gotten the best of me tonight, I'll be back soon!
